The GHS Regulation serves as an important harmonization measure and is intended to contribute to worldwide safety of products in the chemical industry. In Asia-Oceania too, GHS acts as the basis for safe handling, transport and disposal of chemicals. Due to the national implementation of different versions and the modular structure of GHS, the regulation differs in numerous details in some countries or regions. China, for example, has been publishing national GHS standards since 2008, and revised versions have been available since November 2014. Meantime the GHS implementation starts at a completely different level in several exemplary countries such as Japan, Indonesia or Taiwan.
