We are a group of active minds in which everyone is heard and can influence the content and structure of our work. Our goal is to protect people and the environment when dealing with hazardous substances, and to do so as effectively and efficiently as possible. We provide our know-how to software companies in the form of content packages as well as to chemical companies by creating customized data as a service and integrating it into their IT infrastructure. That's why we bring together all our expertise in a team of around 40 permanent employees, mainly from the fields of natural sciences, linguistics and IT.

Working hours

If you can work independently and still appreciate working with others, then you can expect an environment in which you largely determine your own working hours. Unless otherwise described, the following applies to all our positions: The scope of work can usually be between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on your preference. Whether a mini-job, part-time or full-time position - as a family-friendly company, we are open to your working time model (e.g. also as a return to work during or after parental leave).

We at Qualisys GmbH develop our own software solutions and workflows for hazardous substance management in international companies, connecting our experts with our clients. Open standards form the basis of our work – we are shaping the further development of open data exchange formats and content standards under open-source licences in our field.
Software development is based at the same location as our in-house business users. Flat hierarchies and short lines of communication help us to further develop software products into the best solutions on the market, without getting bogged down in bureaucracy. We create new solutions with a focus on system integration with our clients and the highest possible operational efficiency. We continuously adapt our software to new international requirements and growing client needs.

  • Java JDK 17 / Jakarta 10
  • JPA: EclipseLink
  • PostgresSQL 15
  • Payara
  • Eclipse as IDE
  • SVN for version control
  • Redmine as a ticket system

We are looking for a Backend Java Software Developer to start as soon as possible:

Your responsibilities:

You will develop backend components for our application server, which will be accessible via a graphical frontend and a REST API. Security and high availability are key priorities in this role. You will also liaise with in-house users and, in some cases, with clients.

Your profile:

You are an empathetic, communicative person with a responsible approach to work, and you thrive in an agile team. We value your experience, opinions and initiative, which you apply without losing sight of your team and the users.
You have a degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, have at least three years’ project experience specifically in Java and Jakarta, and can tell a good API from a bad one. Your work is characterised by clear architecture and good maintainability. You prefer developing products to being tied up in short-term project work.elopment. You view requirements, engineering and product ownership as key aspects of software development and see them as offering interesting career prospects.
